FOR LOCAL ARTISTS
The Northside Studio Residency gives away a small private studio at PS1 to a local artist/maker three times per year. Learn more here.

FOR VISITING ARTISTS
The Center for Afrofuturist Studies hosts 1-6 week residencies in Iowa City for artists of color from across the US and beyond. Learn more here.

Residency in Community is a program 2024 that hosts visiting artists onsite at PS1 for 2-4 weeks. It is geared towards artists who have a significant component of their practice grounded in an areas that PS1 has robust resources and an established local artistic community around, including: printmaking/book arts, media arts, and land/built environment.

These opportunities are fee-free and include artist funding. We also have options for:

• pay-your-own-way retreats for artists with access to institutional or personal resources

• housing visiting artists for another local organization

• collaborative residencies with other organizations
