Teaching Artist:

This workshop is an introduction to the curious world of image tactility through intaglio platemaking and printmaking processes. Beginners and beyond are welcome to investigate topics of texture & tonality within the graphic or hand drawn image using an array of tools: etching needles, crayons, dremel engraving, paint brushes, sponges, and more. Methods in plate preparation, drypoint, line etching, aquatint, stop-out methods, print-shop safety/etiquette, and printing technique will be discussed throughout the duration of the workshop. At the onset of the first session participants are encouraged to enter with a rough idea, sketch, or digital image to be transformed into a two state edition of prints. Participants can expect to leave with a new approach to texture in intaglio, etching tools and information necessary to continue printing!
