Graphic Clay: Screenprinting on Stoneware

In this workshop we will be dissolving the mystery behind graphic image application onto clay! Experience with either working in Photoshop, screenprinting, or working with clay is a plus but not required. We’ll be learning basic screen printing techniques, studio etiquette at Iowa City Press Co-op & the IC Fab Lab, various techniques to print on clay, and more! You will return home with glazed and printed clay creations of your own and a new skillset to apply to or influence your own creative practice!

*PS1 workshops are pay-what-you-can thanks to support from the Community Foundation of Johnson County, the Johnson County Board of Supervisors, and individual donors. $350 is the true cost of the workshop, and we encourage participants to select the cost that they can afford, or pay a little extra to support future sliding-scale fees.

TEACHING ARTIST

Emily Edwards is a mixed-media printmaker and ceramicist working primarily in monoprint, intaglio, screenprint and sculpture. Her current practice is driven by graphic and textural collage paired with memory studies and the found object. Her current body of work explores longevity, evocation, and the dismantling of wetland ecology in the Midwest. Based in Iowa City, Iowa, Edwards holds a BFA from the University of Iowa with a focus in Printmaking and a certificate in Museum Studies.
